Website Design and Hosting from WebDog Outdoors

Many club managers answering our survey identified the need to have affordable website design services and/or hosting that would allow you to keep your website current without the cost associated with hiring a designer each time you listed a new event.  We went to WebDog Outdoors, a website design and hosting company that specializes in sites for outdoors-related businesses, to negotiate special pricing for member clubs.  What we got was not only phenomenal pricing, but a design structure that can change the way the NSSA and NSCA organizations communicate with clubs, and the way clubs communicate with shooters.  The new platform is called a “hive.”

Here’s How It Works.

  1. WebDog Outdoors will create new websites for NSSA and NSCA that are more easily navigated and oriented to clubs, members, and potential members wanting to learn about the sports.  These new websites will be the “Hub” of the hive.
  2. WebDog will either create a new site for each participating club or move an existing site to the hive.
  3. Once those sites are set up, clubs will invite and encourage its members to sign up for automatic updates from its websites. Then, whenever new posts are added to a club’s website, its members automatically receive an email notice and link.
  4. On the organizations’ new Hub site, certain pages of common interest will be designated for sharing with clubs.  Examples of these pages might be information on major national shoots, rule changes, how to play the game, or shooting tips.  Participating clubs will choose which of these pages they want to have on their sites.  Once that is done, anytime the Hub administrator adds information to those pages, it automatically appears on the clubs’ sites.  Since that is new material on a club’s site, subscribing members will also receive an automatic link to it.

Example

The NSSA or NSCA site, or Hub, administrator posts information on registering for its next US Open.  That post automatically appears on participating clubs’ websites and in the email boxes of the clubs’ members.  And the only person who did anything to make that happen was the Hub administrator!

Site Updates

WebDog will also make it easy for clubs to update their own sites, say, to announce an upcoming shoot or to post results from a recent event.  Participating clubs will receive simple written and video instructions for making updates to their own sites.

Cost

If anything is more surprising than the ease with which this operates it is the cost. Here’s what you would pay as a participant in the hive:

Website design or transfer to Hive                     $399.93

             Monthly hosting fee                                               26.93

Important Facts

  • Each website is a stand-alone, customized site.  The hive operates behind the scenes, so what users see is a normal website.
  • The hive requires a minimum of 100 club participants.
  • If a larger number of clubs participate, the cost per website can be reduced further.

Other Web Services

If you prefer not to be part of the NSSA / NSCA Hive but wish to take advantage of the inexpensive hosting services offered by WebDog, the same monthly fee of $26.93 is offered.

If the Hive platform does not suit your needs but you require other website design services, WebDog will extend a significant discount to member clubs.
